According to Fars News Agency, based on the announcement from the Scientific Information Database of Jahad Daneshgahi, Ardakan University has, for the first time, been ranked among the top universities in Iran according to the number of citations on Google Scholar.

Dr. Ali Fathzadeh, Vice President for Education and Research at Ardakan University, announced this achievement and expressed his appreciation for the valuable efforts of his academic colleagues in attaining this position. He stated: “Every year, Webometrics publishes the number of citations of universities based on their Google Scholar profiles as a beta version to ensure transparency in its ranking system.”

Referring to the process, he explained that the citation counts are obtained through the profiles of the top 110 researchers from each university on Google Scholar. “Based on this, the indexed profiles of universities and research centers are identified, and the ranking is conducted by evaluating the number of citations of the top 10 most-cited researchers at each university on Google Scholar, according to their names and email addresses affiliated with the respective institutions.”

Fathzadeh further noted: “In this ranking system, profiles from nearly five thousand institutions have been identified and evaluated. The key objective of publishing this ranking system is to encourage universities and higher education institutions to have a more prominent and active presence on the web.”

The Cybermetrics Lab annually publishes two editions of this ranking system, in July and December. This ranking identifies institutions by their website addresses in the Google Scholar database and monitors their top 10 public profiles.
